Great update, big improvement to eliminate grind.
BTW Gail: how many people work in ArenaNet? I mean, if you can manage to introduce so big updates (I've been VB programmer and can imagine the amount of time that must require, even without the artistic part) every once a week and, in the meantime, work in the buyable addons the staff there must be a bunch!
Keep the good job, I love seeing my hopes and suggestions coming to the game so fast!

excuse me what? I normally support Anet's updates/decisions almost to the point of blind fanboyism, but what inspired them to do that??? Shit, I'm at level 15 and my stash steadily hovers at around a plat... I mean really... I could game for 4 hours and have enough money to buy (maximum) 5 pints of beer... I could work in real life for 1 hour and have enough money to buy 5 pints of beer easy, maybe more if it's charr piss.
1 pint of beer costs nearly or more than 5 times as much as most armor pieces...
perhaps if we gave them some plant fibers (hops) it would lower the price

Improved salvage kits so that they always successfully salvage runes from monster-dropped armor. There is still a chance of destroying a rune when using a salvage kit to try to retrieve it from your own armor.
|
the first sentence is great. the second sentence is bad. they should have made it so you don't lose runes ever. it's bad enough that it already destroys your armor piece! plus you might lose the rune too: that's just horrible!
maybe there could be a super-expert salvage kit or something that costs 2 plats or so, and makes it so you never ever lose your rune or armor piece.
having no recourse to always recover runes 100% makes the game not fun. losing an expensive rune and having to grind to get it back (or get the gold back to buy it again) is clearly not an enjoyable experience.
i don't get why the devs would fix half of this problem, while purposely ignoring the other half of the problem.

If you never lose runes ever, then how would that help the economy? Only insertion and no sinkhole? Things will be next to worthless by then.

ale for one plat I dont like miuch also.
Whoever has collected ale before has now 5 times the net-worth.
people sale ale for 500 gold all over.
Now will this just stop soon and just kill inflation later OR will there just be more ale buying with the hope the price will increase even more?

Without some sort of drain on the economy with runes, the number in circulation will only increase, decreasing their value.
edit: Xellos beat me to it.

in other words, everyone would be able to get the runes they want. everyone is happy. everyone wins. what's wrong with that?

The loss of a significant money sink in the economy (rune trader) sure makes everyone win, right?
edit: I didn't, should have, heh.

mm i liked all the other patches this one is a tad disapointing even though i have held the hall by holding the center this is not the easy way to go about it.. 16vs 8 the numbers are just not in your favor... noone likes rerunning up to the hoh just to face the fact that its only an average team holding it because two average teams can beat one good team. mabye my vision of the hoh where the best stands at the top is wrong though...*shrug*
oh exp was nice but more is necassary and i belive it was infact er "retrofitted" i think i got like 5 skill points but to acquire all the skills is still i dunno wild guess atleast 6 million experience which is to much a grind for me i have played through it 3 times id rather not have to farm experience :/. ontop of that they made it so you cant just ascended to get more skill points ugh.. their is no efficent way to get them.
anyway i hear good things are coming next patch and im not pesmistic about it i actually think anet does a very good job at this but everyonce in a while i have to whine .

I would easily pay 2 plat for a 5 use super salvage kit that saves upgrades/runes (all) and the upgraded item (armor, weapon, etc.)

Because skill points are based on the amount of experience (well, 'levels') you have, you will be retroactively awarded any additional skill points. They are awarded after you kill something and update your experience total. So if you have a lot of experience beyond level 20 on your character(s) you should be receiving some more skill points.

the Ascalon Settlement quest is outside of LA
you dont get the quest until you watch Cynn and the gang converse with a local native

A rather nice update. Addresses a lot of the issues with skill points and getting skills if you change your secondary. The quests were a nice addition, should give us who enjoy PvE something else to do for another week :>. The HoH addon probably wasn't the best, made it harder for the defending team, however it makes more sense. If you win the HoH and defend it, you shouldn't be charging in with everyone else, you should be standing on the altar holding it. Should give the PvPers some more challange.

The problem with this idea is that now, it forces teams to make their builds even more defensive, which kills off variety even more. HoH variety was small to begin with, now it's very narrowed.

any possibility of having a storage bin for guilds? like the Xunlai storage bin for individuals, but instead for guilds located at their guild hall, to help with the sharing.
i thought about recommending more storage space overall, since i think most of us have "storage" characters, but that might be overkill- its sometimes good to get rid of some things and to have a tight leash on storage. my storage character is filled with items i have on hold, like upgrades for my weapons, and collector items that have no collectors yet (white mantle badges, did anyone find the collector for these? dark remains and etc ::: maybe i just haven't found the collectors for most items yet) super gold weapons i can't seem to let go; i had a 5:1 vamp bow i didn't want to get rid of, but finally had to. i also have mixed dye; silver+black. they do not stack =\ even though i mixed them in the same order. (they are "mixed", which is the reason, i know :: shouldnt have mixed them right away)
also for some reason some items aren't stacking, even though they are the same. i know updates on items can lead to this problem, but the value of the each individual item remains the same. (i think murrsaat tokens was one of them, 25g value each, i had deposited some in the past, and then some again, and tried dragging them over to save space- they would not stack) not to mention all the monstrous claws/fangs i still have hanging around. maybe i'm just a pack rat
also, i know its possible to drag the 'icons' from your menu bar onto the UI, to act like a 'shortcut', which is cool. i was hoping if it was not too difficult, to make it so when you click it and you already have the window open, it closes that box. for instance, if you click on the 'inventory' icon, it opens it up, but when you click on the icon again, it closes it. might seem i'm being really lazy not wanting to just click the 'x' on the window, but some times i just need to check inventory for a sec and then close it
anyway, thanks for fixing the drop rate problem. the skill point/XP problem is also very nice. i'm going to try and switch too all secondary professions, and get all the skills someday.
sorry if i'm rambling on, its a bit late : please pardon me ^.^

I like the fact that now, when you get a whisper, you hear a sound. Little things like that are big
How about adding an arrow when you click on a player in your party? For example, if "Jon Doe" is not in visible range on the radar, and I click his name on the party list, have a small blue/yellow arrow appear on the radar indicating his direction? Stuff like this would make the UI more consistent and user-friendly imo.
Also...being able to split stacks would be terrific!
Does anyone know how the new scrolls work? I haven't seen one at the traders or while randomly killing stuff (don't know if monsters can drop them?).
I heard one nets an XP increase provided you kill something every 30 seconds, and the other is just a striaght XP increase for 10 minutes.
Also, how do you use them? Equip them as a skill, put them in the off hand, or just double click from inventory window?
And more importantly...how much are they?
